| Residents rue insensitivity of ERA, civil administration | | Come Navratras, city is dug out again | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 8: The unplanned digging on the circular road during the Navratras is irking people who have to come in Jammu city from Siddhra and Nagrota areas. The Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) is laying sewerage pipes and only two wheelers are allowed to move on the road. No four wheelers, either commercial or personal vehicles are allowed on the road which has caused nuisance to the people of the area. To avoid entering the congested city, people coming from Srinagar take circular road route to reach Southern part of the city and beyond but now when the road has been closed for traffic, these people either have to face the traffic jam on the national highway or get in from bypass road. The ERA has taken this work during the festival season and especially during Navratras when people of Jammu have to perform their religious obligations. The timing of taking up the project speaks volumes about the insensitivity of the administration. "I have to come from Nagrota for my duties in Jammu city. I have been using circular road to get easy passage in the city but since the work has been started on this stretch, I have to take long route from Sidhra bypass," said Satish Kumar, a resident of Nagrota. The situation is same in different parts of city especially near Chand Nagar where whole road has been dug by the ERA . Last year also, this particular road was dug up by same agency. The road was laid but now this year again, the road has been dug and people of Jammu are facing multiple problems. |
