Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 8: A collection of Dogri poems titled, Aas Puchaa De written by Balak Ram Baral was released in a cultural function held at Harsh Niketan Higher Secondary School Sunderbani in Rajouri today. On the occasion students presented cultural extravaganza including dance performances on Dogri songs whereas the local poets recited their poems. While presenting the paper on the content of book, Madan Mohan said that the book reflected the realities of life and underlines the importance of just and equitable society. According to him, this is the first Dogri book by a writer from Rajouri district. The author of Aas Puchaa De-which comprises of hundred and one poems, Balak Ram Baral said, "I was inspired by the need to promote Dogri as it is my mother tongue and this book is my tribute to the language and its rich literature." In his keynote address, the chief guest and Block Medical Officer Sunder Bani, Dr Govind Sharma said, "Art and literature humanize society and build bridges between communities and countries. A healthy society should always encourage and promote its artists and writers." The vote of thanks was presented by younger son of the poet and journalist, Ashutosh Sharma. The function was held by Dogri Sahitya Sabha Sunder Bani in collaboration with Harsh Niketan Higher Secondary School. Prominent among others who attended the function included KK Khaki, Nek Ram Sharma, Kundal Lal Khajuria, Vidya Sagar, Terath Ram and Ravinder Sharma. |
