Readers demand modern, latest technology for upgradation
Kathua library in shambles

KATHUA, Oct 8: The users of district library Kathua have lamented the dilapidated condition of the hub of the readers which they say is lying in worst condition wanting administration's concern for its upkeep,
Anil Kashyap a regular reader expressed his worries over the present state of library which is located at PWD Colony near Shaheedhi Chowk Kathua.
He said that it is only the library in Kathua which has been serving the highly populated town and its adjoining hundreds of villages since long which have benefitted many students.
But for the last few years, there is no proper staff. Even the post of chief librarian is still vacant, no renovations have been carried out and this can be adjudged after seeing the dilapidated condition of the library building.
It is requested to the administration and state government to pay attention towards the worst condition of Kathua district library and develop it as soon as possible.
Luv Singh urged the state government to take serious notice over the deteriorated state of Kathua library. The ground in front of reading room has totally turned into water pond, the poisonous reptiles like snake and others are in abundant in number and their frequent movement in reading section has caused a terror among the readers.
The bad look of entire building of library is not hidden from the administration of Kathua as the location of the library is at a prime spot from where every VIP movement takes place round the clock.
Even the in the front of Library entrance gate, the water is logged at stretch of considerable area which also remains unnoticed by the administration.
Harish Chander, a nearby resident also expressed his strong resentment against the dilapidated condition of this library of district Kathua said that his children often used to go to library few years back but now they have stopped to read in library because due to the lack of proper facility and ugly surrounding in the library.
The unwanted water logged in the front lawn of the library has become the germination spot for mosquitoes which can play to key role for breaking out of epidemic like Dengue.
Akriti Gupta, said that she have been coming in this library for reading for the last few months but is not satisfied with maintenance system of this library which is totally lost and out dated. There is no internet facility, no well study environment, and the disturbances from the mosquitoes and various poisonous reptiles are the routine problems.
She urged the district administration and state government to address the problems of readers by developing the district Library and equip it with modern and latest technology so the readers could not be deprived and ignored from taking the international and national information in this library.
