| YAC submits memorandum on land ‘escheating’ to AC Revenue | | | RAKESH SAMBYAL
KATHUA, Oct 8: Alleging a property dealer and his associates prepared fake documents of a land to show it as normal land where in actual it was an orchard according to the revenue records, a deputation of Youth Against Corruption (YAC) submitted a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner Revenue S.P Rakwal here on Tuesday. The convener of the YAC, Rahul Dev Sharma apprised the officer that Sudhir Kumar and Sharat Chander both son of Girdhari Lal Mahajan R/o Akhnoor road Jammu were the owner of Orchard measuring 75 Kanals in Khasra number 65 and 66. However upto year 1991 the major portion of the land i.e more than 58 kanals was put to residential and commercial use. Later Sudhir Kumar filed a civil suit against his neighbor Bakshi Dev Raj in respect of land measuring 7 kanal 14 marlas situated in front of the Government Degree College Kathua in Khsara number 110/65 falling in village Chak Gainda, presently Ward number 1 Ramnik Vihar, was basically an orchard. The case was won by Sudhir Kumar and he tried to convert the nature of land with the consent of the government. But according to Section 3 and 4 of the Prohibition on the conversion of the lands and Alienation of Orchads Act, he didn't succeed. In the meantime, Sudhir Kumar sold this agricultural piece of land to property dealer Bawa Ditta and Associates, who sold the land for commercial/residential purpose violating provision of Section 13 of the J&K Agrarian Reforms Act. Rahul Sharma apprised officer that on behalf of the inhabitants of Kathua they requested the administration authorities to take stern action the violators and issue directions to stop further alienation of the land. |
