| UGC General Orientation Course begins at JU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 27: A four weeks long UGC General Orientation Course being organised by Academic Staff College, University of Jammu in collaboration with Department of Library and Information Science commenced today. Dr. Meenakshi Kilam ,Director IQAC, the chief Guest of the function formally inaugurated the course in the presence of staff of the university. She stressed upon the requirement of such courses from time to time. Around twenty five college and university teachers are attending the General Orientation Course. In her welcome address, Prof. Sangita Gupta, HOD ,Library and Information Science and Course In charge discussed the need of such courses for the creation of vibrant Knowledge Society in 21st Century. She said that the teachers and the librarians are the important components of the society . They need to upgrade their knowledge so that they can disseminate the same to the students. Prof. Rajender Gupta, Director Academic Staff College also made some comments regarding the programme. Prof. Gupta emphasized the importance of such courses for updating the knowledge of teachers .Therefore, such courses should not be taken only as eligibility requirement for promotion. Dr. Bindu Sharma, Assistant Librarian conducted proceedings of the inaugural function. Ranjit Kalra, Assistant Director, ASC thanked all the participants and the dignitaries and invited all of them for lunch. |
