As New Year dawns' employees all set to resume agitation against Government
JCC to meet on January 1 to chalk future course of action

SRINAGAR, Dec 27: As there seems to be no end to the showdown between State Government and its employees with respect to the demands of the latter the New Year is all set to resume the confrontation between the two sides.
Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of State Government employees would meet in Jammu, the winter capital of the State on January 1, 2014 and chalk out the future course of action. The JCC in a meeting here today castigated some of the people in the Government who according to them are acting as stumbling blocks in the fulfillment of demands of Government employees.
Talking to Early Times, Pir Nisar Ahmad, Press Secretary, JCC said today's meeting was presided over by senior JCC leader and President of his faction of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Abdul Qayoom Wani. The meeting took a strong note of hollow assurances made by State Government with respect to fulfillment of demands of Government employees.
"Deliberations and decisions were held with regard to hollow assurances from time to time given by State Government to the leaders of JCC. Instead of resolving the issues the State Government imposed draconian laws like ESMO, No Work No Pay, Dies none and suspension on its employees," said Nisar while quoting Qayoom.
Qayoom while expressing surprise over the silence adopted by the Government with respect to the 'genuine' demands of employees appealed Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to intervene and get the demands fulfilled. He said repeated pleas in the past have fallen on deaf ears adding that this time around there may be some difference.
"The State Government has already entered into an agreement with the JCC leaders in 2011 and same needs to be implemented in letter and spirit. The delay in resolving the issues of employees paves way for confrontation between employees and Government. JCC will never allow the State Government to back-track the agreement and it would be ensured that the demands are fulfilled," said Qayoom.
The JCC leader said that imposition of 'black' laws would not deter them and they would take their 'struggle' to logical conclusion. He said many suggestions were received for revamping the 'struggle' of employees. He added that it was unanimously decided that on January 1, 2014, JCC leaders will meet at Jammu in which the leaders from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh will participate and announce a new agitation programme.
"Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah should use his influence so that the genuine demands of the employees are fulfilled without any further delay. The Chief Minister should keep a vigil on some of the persons at the helm of affairs since they want to create a wedge between State Government and employees. These people have misled the CM by giving false information and the role of these persons is condemnable," said Qayoom.
The meeting was attended by JCC leaders Mohammad Ashraf, Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam, Farooq Ahmad Trali, Zulkernain Bhat, Khursheed Ahmad Bhat, Abdul Majeed Parray, Haji Bashir Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Aijaz Hakeem, Abdul Rashid Mir, Nusrat Ahmad Beigh, Shakeel Ahmad, Mohammad Ramzan Gojree, Mir Fayaz, Tasleema Bashir, Imtiyaz Hussain, Afroza Irshad, Sajad Ahmad Parray, Mohammad Younis Matto, Zareena Shafi, Bashir Ahmad Waza and Mir Sarwar.
