| NABARD organizes workshops on Financial Inclusion in excluded areas of Doda | | | Early Times Report Doda, Dec 27: NABARD, in order to hasten the process of inclusive growth has embarked upon a series of financial literacy campaigns in financially excluded areas of Doda district, targeting villages without banking facilities having population between 1000 to 2000 including schools in these areas. The aim is to create awareness among the farmers, SHGs, BCs and the general public especially the women about various products of the banks so that they can avail them with ease. Financial Literacy campaigns were organized in Schools viz. Govt. Higher Secondry School, Malhoti, Govt. High School Mangota and Villages/Panchayats viz.Panjgrain, Seri, Mangota & Taron. During the workshops District Development Manager, NABARD, Doda, Rajesh Kumar Badyal enlightened the participants that in future all the subsidies which they are getting today viz. on kerosene, cooking gas, 32 central govt sponsored schemes or MGNREGA/pension payments will be released only by way of direct credit in their accounts instead of the present practice hence they will have to open their accounts to avail these subsidies/facilities. He also apprised the participants about the initiatives taken by NABARD from time to time especially through KCCs and the formation of the SHGs/JLGs/FCs etc to empower them. Some farmers who have taken advantage of KCCs and the members of the WHSGs who benefitted through formal banking sector were introduced to the gathering to make financial inclusion programme more meaningful. LDM SBI Doda in his address advised the participants of the financial inclusion workshop to take advantage of banking sector to solve their financial constraints which they often face and in case of any difficulty they can contact him over telephone besides they can also take help from FLCC centres being operational in LDM office premises at Doda whenever they desire. Manager(loans) J&K Bank apprised the gathering about the various saving and the credit products being offered by banks to the public with special focus on 'No Frill Accounts /Basic SavingBank Deposit Account' and DRI Advances for bringing more and more people especially the poor within the fold of formal banking. Director R-Seti, SBI, Doda, apprised the participants about various vocational trainings available with R-seti which they can utilize to their advantage only once they become part of formal banking sector. |
