| NC, Cong betray people of 'erstwhile Doda Region': PDP | | | early times report Batote, Dec 27: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today lambasted the ruling coalition alliance for betraying people of 'erstwhile Doda Region'. Addressing party workers here on Friday Party's Lok Sabha candidate for Doda-Udhampur-Kathua constituency Arshad Malik said the for decades National Conference treated people of this mountainous region just as it's vote bank pushing the erstwhile Doda district into poverty, backwardness and economic instability. He said that NC has never wanted development of this region which is evident from the scarcity of even the basic amenities like health, education institutions. He said even in this age the people here still dream of roads, electricity and Medicare facilities. "The people here, he said, after NC extended their support to Congress with the hope that the party may bring out of distress and suffering. However the Congress also betrayed the people for its pity political interests, he regretted. Malik asked people to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti to establish a new system in Jammu and Kashmir. "We, with the support of the people, want to change the present ineffective system", he said. Malik said that it was a high time when the people must raise themselves above the party affiliation and support PDP which has emerged as a strong political alternative. Shakeel Bhat, Zonal Secy Amin Shiekh, Block President Jagdish Chand, Zahid Parihar, Sachin Paroch and others also addressed the workers. |
