| Corruption rampant in Education Department, DSE indifferent | | | early times report
Jammu, Dec 27: Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah president Muslim Development Forum J&K has expressed his grave concern over mal-practices and the rampant corruption which is on its height in the Directorate of School Education Jammu. Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah further said that earlier teacher and education department were seen as noble profession, but with the passage of time, this noble department /profession lost its past glory. And the touts/ agents have made the directorate of education as fish market.
The mal -functioning and uncertainty in the education department can be gauged from the fact that within the short span of time a number of directors were transferred one after another . Infact, the intention of Tara Chand education Minister was to run the directorate on the remote control and when the recently posted directors refused to do so, the preset director Tushar Kanti Sharma has totally surrendered and has fine tuned accordingly like a robot.
Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah during his recent visit along with his team to the directorate found that Tushar Kanti Sharma the present director school education never sits on his chair during the official working hours and only attends his office in the late hours of night along with his touts and agents.
The modus operandi of the director is that he initially transfers, Principals, lectures, masters, and teachers particularly females to some far off places only to put pressure on teachers to extract money from them according to the will of director and his agents.
Syed Shabir Shah president MDF, while interacting with the perturbed transferees waiting in the directorate office particularly the females some of them with their babies also found that the present director is silently running a sort of two tier transfer system .The first transfer order is issued to remote places/station only to harass and increase the bid of the transfer money and when the aggrieved transferees greases the palm of director according to already fixed rate list i.e. Rs 3 lakhs, one & half lakh, one lakh and fifty thousand respectively for principals, lectures, masters and teachers respectively. The orders are issued in bulk which are collected through the favorite touts and agents.
The other officials of education department at different levels have also followed the similar pattern. One such example is Smt. Shashi Thapa principal Govt. GGHSS Mubarak Mandi Jammu who has exhausted almost all the school funds and other funds meant for the welfare of the school and girls students.
Keeping a side all the codal requirements and without fulfilling the requisite formalities she has misappropriated the funds lavishly for his own wrong full gains. Infact under the patronage corruption of his high ups fearlessly.
The academic side of the institution has been neglected totally thus jeopardizing the future of tender age girls students. On protesting for such state of affairs in the institution she replies that a lion's share goes to higher ups and the staff member who dares to ask questions is threatened, harassed and mentally tortured and finally transferred to some far of place.
Syed Shabir Shah president MDF has appealed to the Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah to fulfill his promise of providing corruption free administration by taking stern action to stop malpractice in the directorate of school education Jammu and also for issuance of immediate directions to the Commissioner state vigilance organizations to initiate investigation in the misappropriation of school funds of GGHSS Mubarak Mandi Jammu in order to save the carrier of prestigious girls institution of Jammu. |
