| Electric wires posing threat, PDD authorities mum | | | Ajay Sharma Katra, Dec 27: The inhabitants of holy town Katra are living under constant fear and threat of death and destruction of property with overhead electric lines, passing over their roofs. Moreover, numerous hooks can be seen on electric poles, posing threat of life to locals. Locals of Katra town informed Early Times that from Katra Bus Stand to Chintamani area of Katra town, a number of electric poles could be seen, which were overburdened with wires and hooks. "Nearly 50 persons are given connection from one pole, while the wires are passing from our roof, which could be prove fatal", Vijay Paroch said. He further said that some days back, his son sustained electric shock, when he had gone to drape clothes on roof. "We have apprised the concerned department officials several times, but no action has been taken so far. We have asked the Assistant Executive Engineer Rahul Dev to take proper action, so that no untoward incident would happen, but he has turned a deaf ear towards the issue", he said. On several occasions, he said, they have urged the authorities for making arrangements and remove the wires, but they have taken it lightly. "I have decided to knock the door of court against the Power Development Department (PDD) that if any untoward incident would be held due to their negligence, PDD authorities would be responsible", he said. Moreover the situation was same in other areas, where electric poles could be seen overloaded with hinged wires and passing from the roofs of habitants, inviting mishaps. When contacted, Assistant Executive Engineer Rahul Dev, he took in lightly and refused to take any action and when Executive Engineer Sanjeev Rathore was contacted, he said that he had not received any complaint and would take action only after the complaint.
