early times report JAMMU, Dec 27: Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Fencing Association today held a felicitation function to honour those medal winners in the recently held 24th Senior National Fencing Championship here. Minister for Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din was chief guest in the felicitation function, who patted the gold winning Sber team of J&K and individual bronze medalist, Vishal Thapar. Minister congratulated the J&K team for finishing overall third in the men's championship with Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) taking away the overall trophy. The gold winning Sabre team was comprised of international fencers, Sub-Inspector with J&K Police, Rashid Ahmed and Ujjwal Gupta of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS). Other two members of the team were Major Vikram Singh Jamwal and young Vishal Thapar. The gold winning team trained under the guidance of State Sports Council, Shotu Lal Sharma. Earlier, president of the Association, M J Sharma and general secretary, Vijay Sharma gave a brief note of the achievements of the Association. Also present were Sports Officer of State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma, Shah Mohd, Sajad Majid and MM Sharma.
