| BJP mocks at Omar's conditions for 'NC-BJP alliance' | | 'Losers cannot be dictators' | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 4: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) today said that religion would not be a credential for electing chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and only elected members of the legislative assembly will decide it.
National General Secretary, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's close aide Ram Madhav said that the Hindu chief minister issue was not raked up by the BJP but by the state Congress leader. "As far as our stand is concerned, we don't see this issue from the religious angle. Let us leave this issue to the democratic process. CM will be elected by the elected representative. Religion will not be a credential I can assure you that," he told
He also nullified the reports that BJP would join hands with the regional National Conference for the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir. "The stand of BJP is that we want to free the state of Jammu and Kashmir from the dynastic politics. How come we join hands with Omar Abdullah for the formation of the government here? A big no to this," Madhav said.
Commenting over the six conditions that Omar set for BJP for the NC-BJP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir wherein Omar asked BJP to accept JK constitution, state's flag, Article 370 and other issues, Madhav said, "Omar is not in a condition to set conditions for others. Losers cannot be the dictators. He cannot dictate terms to us. Let him concentrate on elections."
Over the policy of the BJP vis-à-vis separatists, Madhav maintained that anyone who accepts Modi's development agenda is welcome "but Pakistan cannot meddle with the internal issues of India. Person like Sajad Lone liked the development proposal for the state and met PM. PM opened his doors for him. Why someone wants to talk to Pakistan when your Prime Minister is opening doors for you." Madhav also asserted that the BJP in JK is fighting the polls on the agenda of development and fells that same is the need of the hour. "Article 370, other issues can be discussed at an appropriate forum and time. At present we want overall and massive development of the state."
The senior BJP leader said that the plethora of funds was being sent for the state "but not even a single percent has been utilized on ground. Funds have been going down the drain or in the pockets of political parties here. People here were never benefited by the same at large."
Over the pending of the proposal submitted by state government to New Delhi over flood relief compensation, Madhav said that Government of India already had given Rs 2000 crore to the state government but the people complain that nothing has reached out to them. "Immediately after the elections, irrespective of who would come to power, the priority of the GoI will be to rebuild the state and to put it back on gear," he said.
Madhav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming with the massive development road map for the state which will benefit every person here. He also appealed people to join the rally of Prime Minister who is scheduled to address Srinagar on December 8. |
