Omar taunts BJP, asks Modi to do justice to his sister | Article 370 | | Masood Malik ET Report JAMMU, Dec 4: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the working president of the National Conference, has taunted the BJP for its inconsistent stand on Article 370 and accused the BJP leadership of speaking in different voices at different places to win the assembly elections in the state. He has also charged the BJP with changing stance on other core issues on the basis of which it won the Parliamentary elections and dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clear his stand all issues at his Kashmir rally scheduled on December 8. "The BJP has forgotten all issues which helped it to form government in Delhi as barely seven months after they have taken a U-turn. The party is talking in different voices. In Jammu, they talk about abrogation of Article 370 and in the Valley they say that if people want, it will remain there (in the Constitution)," Omar has said while mocking the BJP leadership. Omar Abdullah, whose party is fighting the toughest ever election in its long electoral history, has also reminded Modi of what he said in Jammu on December 1, 2013 during the Lalkar rally and asked PM Modi to fulfill the promise he had made that day during the rally. "He (Modi) came in a helicopter and promised people that he will scrap Article 370 if voted to power and even dragged my sister into the controversy by saying that she cannot have right to buy land in state due to this Article. But after seven months in power BJP took a U-turn on everything they promised to the people then by not even mentioning about Article 370 in its 'Vision Document'…My sister still hopes that PM will abrogate Article 370 and she will buy a piece of land here," Omar has said without naming PM Modi. What Omar has said about the BJP is correct. It is a fact that Narendra Modi had said all these things to enlist the support of the people of Jammu province and accused Nehru of complicating matters in the state by enacting Article 370. Modi had also termed Article 370 as anti-people and called for a debate on this Article to find if it had helped the state and its people. Hence, Omar doesn't cross the line when he taunts the BJP leadership and accuses it of speaking different languages at different places to mislead people and win election. Omar also doesn't cross the line when he charges the BJP of abandoning all those issues on the basis of which it fought the Lok Sabha election and formed government at the centre. It is important to note that it is not only Omar Abdullah and many Congress leaders are tearing into the BJP leadership and urging the people to reject the dishonest BJP. This is also the view of many of those who voted for the BJP in Jammu and Ladakh and contributed to the defeat of the NC and the Congress in these two regions. The point is that many staunch supporters of the BJP are feeling sorry for supporting the BJP in the Lok Sabha election. It is a different matter that the BJP is ignoring this sentiment and doing all that it could to please the separatist constituency in Kashmir at the cost of other regions of the state. It, like the Congress and other secular parties, is taking the people of Jammu and Ladakh for a ride and it is this that has disillusioned them.
