What does silence of separatists reflect? | They want to be part of the change! | | Shakeel A Khan
Early Times Report
BUDGAM, Dec 4: The meaningful silence of the separatists during the on-going assembly elections clearly reflects that their mood has changed and want to be a part of the change on that is being witnessed on the political front in the state. The assembly elections which are in progress are totally in contrast to the elections held during the turmoil. Even the hardliner Geelani seems to be overlooking this issue as he is not enjoying the same mood which he used to during the election times. It will not be wrong to mention that the hurriyat machinery is busy in campaigning and the only difference is that separatists have shied away in filing the nomination papers. "The separatists are definitely testing the political waters this time though behind the screen in the form that they are actively taking part in the election rallies of the newly emerging political alternative in the state. These days one can see the yesterday's separatists openly beating the drums in support idea of change," said Ghulam Rasool from Narbal. Here is a lot of difference between the previous three elections and the election that is going on because today's election has drawn a lot of enthusiasm from the people and this was missing altogether in the elections held in the most difficult times, said Rasool. It couldn't have been possible without the active participation of the separatist camp, believes Rasool At the same time the participation of the people from the separatist camps is seen as the timely blessing for the Peoples Democratic Party given the fact that the rallies of the party conducted so far have broken all the previous turn out records. It may be better to say that the separatists have changed their mood in favour of the PDP, hence brightening its chances of forming the next government. "The active participation of once the supporters of boycott, have encouraged the common man to wake from the slumber and that is why election rallies witness healthy turn outs these days. They are rendering their good services this time no matter "Better late, than never," said some people at Bemina. Whosoever wins at the end of the elections but one thing is important that this particular election has taken fear away from the people to a great extent and by the time of the next election things will be as normal as these used to be in pre-ninety era. |
