Only single woman among 46 in fray from Rajouri district | | | Rajouri, Dec 4: After scrutiny of the nomination papers today, 46 nomination papers were found valid for four Assembly Constituencies from Rajouri district and ironically of these total 46 candidates in poll fray there is only one woman in the field from Darhal constituency on BSP mandate.Sukhdev Singh, Returning Officer (RO) for Darhal constituency said that after scrutiny of nomination papers 12 candidates including 5 independents were validly nominated to contest the election. Main candidates contesting election from Darhal constituency are Chowdhry Zulfikar, PDP candidate and sitting MLA,Ch Liaqat (NC),Mohd Iqbal Malik (Congress), Th Puran Singh (BJP), Sheraz Begam , BSP candidate from Darhal Constituency is the only woman candidate contesting for Assembly seat in Rajouri district. Deepati Upaal, IAS and Returning Officer (RO) for Nowshera constituency informed that nominations of 11 candidates were found valid after scrutiny today and besides National and local registered parties, 4 independents are contesting election for Nowshera constituency. As per political observers main contest in Nowshera segment is between Ravinder Raina (BJP), Ravinder Sharma , (Congress) and Surinder Kumar (PDP). Sitting MLA, Radhey Sham (NC). Dr Basharat Hussain, RO for Kalakot Assembly Constituency said that the nominations papers of eight contesting candidates were found valid after scrutiny today which includes 3 independent candidates.Sitting MLA Th Rashpal Singh (NC) but this time he is facing tough competition from Ashok Sharma (Congress) and AG Kohli (BJP), however it is expected Arshad Bari Shah (PDP) may create a dent in vote bank of main stream parties as he is enjoying the support of local religious leader. Yogesh Keasr, RO, Rajouri constituency said that out of 15 nominations papers found valid after scrutiny for Rajouri Assembly constituency 9 candidates are contesting as independent. Sitting MLA and former Minister Shabir Ahmed Khan of Congress from Rajouri is likely to face a tough contest from former MP and Minister Ch Talib Hussain who from fielded by BJP candidate while National Conference candidate Mirza Abdul Rashid is riding on traditional vote bank of party. Meantime Ch Qamar of PDP candidate also has a secured vote bank and may give tough competition if continued to improve. |
