SI among 3 hurt in clash between students, police | | | M S NAZKI
MENDHAR, Jan 6: In a clash between students and police in the town here this morning, a Sub-Inspector (SI) and two other persons, including a part III student of government degree college, Mendhar, were injured. During routine checking of vehicles outside the degree college here, cops, led by SI Pankaj Singh, intercepted Motin Ahmad, a part III student of Sakhi Maidan, who was going to college on his brand new motorcycle at about 11.30 am. There was heated exchange of words between them when the cops asked him to show them the registration papers of his motorcycle. The trouble started after some other college students intervened. In the resulting clash, SI Pankaj, Motin and police driver, SPO Rohit Sharma sustained injuries. In stoning by the agitated students, a police vehicle also got damaged. The students later blocked Mendhar-Drana road to vehicular traffic. On the intervention of senior police officers and college principal, Prof Hussain Shah, the students lifted their blockade and dispersed peacefully. The injured were later admitted to the sub-district hospital, Mendhar, from where SI Pankaj was referred to the GMCH, Jammu, for CT scan and Motin to district hospital, Rajouri. While police have registered a case against seven students, they were yet to register a case against police on the complaint of students. |
