'Confused' state leaders make BJP top brass unhappy | 'Have faith in high command, be patient' | | Fazal Khan
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 6: The state BJP leaders issuing contradictory statements over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir has reportedly annoyed the party chief Amit Shah, who has authorized only a few leaders to hold negotiations with the regional parties. Sources told Early Times that Shah has taken a strong exception to almost all the BJP leaders talking to media and putting forth their suggestions. "Amit Shah while chairing the meeting of BJP leaders from JK in New Delhi expressed dismay over their impatient approach and eagerness to hit the headlines," sources said. They said Shah told the BJP leaders to act in a "matured way" and not to show their excitement till the party breaks the ice with any of the regional parties to form the government. "Your utterances and unwanted remarks are adding to confusion. These are also creating problems for the people who are talking to the prospective alliance partners," Amit Shah is understood to have told the BJP leaders. Shah, according to the sources, sured the BJP leaders that if party becomes the part of the next government in Jammu and Kashmir it would strike a "best deal" with its alliance partner. "It's unfortunate that a few BJP leaders are trying to drive home a point that Chief Minister should be from Jammu and rotational Chief Minister is an option," a top BJP leader is understood to have told the core group meeting of BJP leaders held in New Delhi on Tuesday. "Party legislators have put the ball in high command's court. They should have faith that high command won't let them down. Party leaders won't take the final call without taking all the stakeholders into confidence. Let's hope you don't reach us through media anymore as talks are at crucial stage and a small hiccup from our or other side can lead to a deadlock," sources quoted the top BJP leader as having said. Another issue at which party high command expressed its displeasure was that everyone is trying to behave as the spokesman of the party. "We have already designated our spokesmen in Jammu and Kashmir regions, besides that Ram Madhav ji has been authorized to articulate the party views. We are unable to understand why everyone wants to be a spokesman?" a senior BJP leader is understood to have asked the state leaders. Sources said that party high command assured the JK leaders that it too realizes that party for the first time in the electoral history of Jammu and Kashmir has bagged 25 seats and it's the golden opportunity for BJP to form its maiden government in the state. "We are making all the possible efforts to ensure that we don't miss the chance but we have to ensure that we strike a fair deal with our prospective alliance partner that is why government formation is taking time. BJP top brass, including Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, are not interested in forming the government for sake of it. We have to ensure that government runs for six years and remains stable," sources quoted BJP leaders as having told the core group. |
