'No harm in putting State under President's rule' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 6: With no headway in Government formation as both BJP and PDP stick to their rigid stand there is every apprehension of imposition of Governor's rule in the State in case the political parties fail to have a consensus and join hands before the Constitutional dead line ends on Jan 19. According to highly placed sources the BJP national president Amit Shah who sought views from his Party Core Group in J&K at New Delhi yesterday has made it clear to the Party men that BJP was not in hurry in case its agenda of governance is not acceptable to PDP and State can be put under President's rule for the time being. Shah said that there was no harm in putting the State under President's rule for the time being in case no consensus is evolved between the various political parties on government formation in the State, sources said. Sources said after hearing the views of his Party men Shah assured them the National leadership will not take any decision in hurry as BJP was not after power and it will respect the sentiments of the masses. Meanwhile sources said BJP has kept its options open and in case its arithmetic does not fit with PDP it has no hesitation in opening the channels with PDP's betenoire National Conference (NC) which has earlier shown its inclination in the Government formation with BJP and some independents. Sources said BJP's rigid stand on its ideological issues has put PDP leadership into a great dilemma who wanted that BJP too should show some flexibility in reaching out a consensus with it on Government formation and keep moratorium on its agenda for time being. However maintaining its rigid stand the BJP wants a pound of flesh and it does not seem easily compromising on CM's post which the Party says should be given to in view of the highest vote percentage received by it during recent elections in the State. Taking a rigid and different posture than Congress on J&K politics BJP leadership is of considered view and opinion that instead of appeasement of Kashmiri leadership it the Party should directly address to the masses of the State who have been over the years exploited by the ruling class for their vested interests. BJP believes that these politicians were mainly responsible for creating a distance between Centre and the people of the State and BJP with a flexible heart will directly try to address the problems of the masses in all the three regions, sources said. Without compromising on its ideology BJP leadership will also put its good governance mantra into practice in J&K by redressing the problems of uneducated youth, creating employment avenues for them, promoting tourism well as pilgrimage tourism to boost the State's economy. Besides concentrating on adventure tourism in Ladakh and other parts of the State, sources added. |
