Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 6: Reacting strongly to the unabated ceasefire violations and the heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan on the forward villages of Samba and Hiranagar sectors along the International Border which has forced thousands of the border residents to take shelter in the relief camps, Panthers Party staged a protest demonstration(Dharna) and torched Pakistan's flag in front of Raj Bhawan led by the State President Balwant Singh Mankotia and several other leaders.
Amid clamorous anti-Pak slogans by the NPP activists against the unprovoked firing and shelling in the border areas Balwant Mankotia said that Pakistan has once again raised its draconian head to create an atmosphere of fear by making a bid to push 'fidayeens' inside the Indian territory under the covering gun fire and mortar shelling well ahead of US President Barrack Obama's visit to India.
He added that the border residents have suffered an immense loss of lives, property, crops and cattle stock since July 2014 due to the repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army. "It is a high time to teach Pakistan an unforgettable lesson and defeat their nefarious plans once and for all. NDA government in the interest of the people of the state and the country should wake up from a deep slumber and take a stern retaliatory action against the belligerent neighbor so that it could not dare to challenge our strength and might", Mankotia asserted.
Yashpal Kundal MLA Samba and President Young Panthers while expressing grief and shock over the martyrdom of jawans and the death of civilians in the firing showed his solidarity with the displaced and uprooted border residents and reiterated the demand for allotting 5 marlas of plots at safer places, tents and the adequate compensation against the perished livestock as per the directions of the Supreme Court to the border residents who have been living and facing the wrath of the Pakistan Army along the IB and the LOC.
Mankotia also reminded that the people of Rajouri, Poonch and Udhampur districts are still suffering due to the havoc caused by the incessant rains and deluge last year during which many precious lives, homes and cattle stock were washed away. He also recalled the tragedy of village Saddal in Udhampur district which was entirely swept away by the floods and the people were buried alive under the debris.
Balwant also demanded the rehabilitation package from the Central government for the victims of the catastrophic rains living in Jammu Pradesh at par with the victims of Kashmir.
He asserted that Panthers Party shall always fight against the discrimination meted out to the people and assure that justice is delivered to them.
