Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: On second successive day five more deaths, three from Jammu and two from Kashmir Valley, reported from the Union Territory. Although whole Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing unprecedented spike in Corona cases, Jammu district is emerged as hotspot of the deadly virus. Jammu-the winter capital of the Union Territory, is witnessing a surge in fresh positive cases but nothing concrete has been done by the arrogant Babus. Those at the helm of the affairs are just doing cosmetic exercises for publicity but on the ground situation is worsening with every passing day. First time after eight months, single day positive cases has touched the figure of almost 600 on Friday which is a warning signal. As reported earlier by this news paper, health institutes in Jammu region are not prepared to face deadly third wave due to the causal approach of the authorities. Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: The audit report has pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir Police spent Rs 100 crore out of Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) without tendering. The audit report has pointed out that the bullet proof vehicles worth Rs 100 crore were procured without any tendering process. The Police Department in its reply has said that the vehicles have been procured directly from the manufacturers at a minimum price. But the auditors have pointed out that the Police Department selected only two suppliers and didn’t explore the “reasonability of rates.” They also pointed out that Rs 9 crore extra were spent in procuring these vehicles. Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: The CAG has targeted the Jammu and Kashmir administration over the faulty execution of work at flyovers at twin capitals- Jammu and Srinagar- in the erstwhile state. The report has maintained that in order to decongest traffic on road junctions and improve connectivity to different areas, it was proposed in January 2010 and May 2010 to construct two four-lane flyovers, one from Bikram Chowk to Women College at Jammu and another from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh Natipora at Srinagar at an estimated cost of Rs 67.31 crore and Rs 219.26 crore, respectively. Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 14: With Omicron driven third Covid wave raging in Kashmir,” Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Friday said the actual number of Covid positive cases in the valley is higher than what is being reported. “The official count is an underestimate as many Covid cases go unreported,” said DAK President and Influenza expert Dr Nisar ul Hassan. Early Times Report Kulgam, Jan 14: A daily wager of the Power Development Department, who was electrocuted in Bogund area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district last Sunday, succumbed to his injuries this morning. Official sources said that a lineman Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Muhammad Ismail Dar, a resident of Bogund was electrocuted and fell from a pole while repairing an electric line at his native village Bogund on January 9. The lineman was shifted to district hospital Kulgam from where he was referred to SKIMS Soura for further treatment.
