Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 2: In yet another glaring example of alleged discrimination with Jammu, the J&K Government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore special Covid19 funds to Kashmir whereas the winter capital region has been given half the amount. Official documents reveal that on July 23, the State Executive Committee (SEC) which met in Srinagar sanctioned Rs. 15 crore under SDRF to major health institutions for further procuring essential labs and equipment for handling Covid19 pandemic. While the two leading healthcare institutions in Kashmir were given Rs five crore each totaling to Rs 10 crores, Jammu was given only Rs 5 crores. As per the official handout, SKIMS, Soura Srinagar and the Government Medical College Srinagar were sanctioned Rs 10 crore whereas the Government Medical College in Jammu has been sanctioned Rs.5 Crore. The funds shall be placed with Divisional Commissioners of Jammu as well as Kashmir for this purpose. Sources told Early Times that payments of many micro units have been pending for the past more than three years. Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 2: In a bid to beef up the national security, the government of Jammu and Kashmir will soon start profiling of the people of Kashmir, who frequently travel to places in Turkey, the Early Times has learnt. Sources said the Jammu and Kashmir Police would be tasked with the maintenance of database of such people. Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 2: With eight fresh deaths the death toll due to Corona Virus in union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 396 even as 444 new cases of virus were reported today. The total number of positive cases in union territory is 21,416. Srinagar reported four fresh COVID-19 deaths with Baramulla, Pulwama, Kulgam and Bandipora districts reporting a death each. So far 368 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir while as number of such deaths in Jammu division is 28. Srinagar tops the list with 130 deaths. Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 2: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Sunday demanded a probe by retired Supreme Court judges into the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in early 1990s. Replying to questions during a webinar, Abdullah said he was of the firm belief that Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits and that he would support any mechanism to bring them back honourably.
