Unprovoked firing leads to economic loss to villagers Helpless people witnessing destruction of standing Crop Shiv Thakur
Jammu, Aug 25: The people of border areas who had to move out of their villages due to unprovoked firing by Pakistan have expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration for sheltering them and to look after them. However, there are certain demands which they want to address as early as possible. One such demand is the dry area declaration of the areas affected by the cross firing as no one is left there to look after the growing crops. Moreover they are also helpless and are unable to do anything rather than seeing their standing crops getting destroyed day by day as it is not possible to harvest the standing crop. One of the effected resident namely Buti Ram, living in migrant camp expressed his grief with Early Times , " We are totally helpless as we do not have anything to survive". Even the crop said which was the only source of our livelihood is getting destroyed day by day". There were few dwellers who demanded that they should not be shifted to some other camps which are far off from their native villages. "Since there is no one to look after our belongings and livestock, we appeal to the administration that we should be allowed to stay at Rangpur as it is only nearer place to our native villages and it is quite impossible for all to feed our livestock daily as RS Pura migrant camp is far away from our villages", said Des Raj, naib sarpanch (Korotana Khurd) and an effected migrant. He further added that the people also approached Tehsildaar and SDM in order to get compensation against the standing crop which is getting destroyed day by day owing to non care. |
