Kuch tou hai jiski parda dari hai! | What is cooking up in NC? | |
Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 25: Horse trading by politicians is not a new phenomenon. The National Conference is the worst sufferer of what Omar today called `Aya Ram gaya Ram policy'. In 1953 some NC legislators led by Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad ditched Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. The mauled lion returned to power as CM after completing 22 years of political wilderness. Omar's father faced a similar situation in 1984. His brother-in-law `seduced' scores of legislators and toppled Dr Farooq Abdullah Government. Farooq lost the legal battle as well as the High Court did not agree with him and saw no problem in Ghulam Mohammad Shah's Government. While everybody knows it fully, Omar's reference to horse trading at this crucial juncture (when elections are round the corner) has generated much interest. Interestingly the NC has announced candidature as well and Omar's statement "Today when you don't award mandate to any person, he defects from the party as for them no mandate no party mantra is important" has to be read between the lines. Something is cooking up in NC! Kuch tou hai jiski parda dari hai. |
