Media is a purchasable commodity: Omar | Fear of defeat | | Rustam
JAMMU, Aug 25 : NC working president and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is angry with everyone, except himself and members of his coterie. He is angry with the PDP leadership and is accusing it of flirting with the BJP in order to help the latter achieve its ‘Mission 44+’. He is asking the PDP leadership to tell the people of Kashmir as to what it is up to. Besides, he is accusing the PDP leadership of putting its self-rule agenda on the backburner and befooling the people of the Valley. Omar Abdullah is unhappy with the Congress leadership as well. He is accusing the Congress of backstabbing the NC by deciding to contest the upcoming assembly elections separately, notwithstanding his assertion that most of his party workers and colleagues wanted to contest the assembly election on its own. Besides, he is not happy with the JKPCC president Saif-ud-Din Soz, who, according to him, has not followed the cardinal principles of coalition dharma and made certain statements in the public he should not have. The NC working president is also angry with the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah. His complaint against Modi is that he inaugurated various projects in the state which were completed during the UPA regime and took credit for the same. He is angry with Amit Shah and saying that Modi and Shah are out to communalize the situation in the state in order to accomplish their ‘Mission 44+’. He is also angry with the BJP because the BJP has, according to him, thought of a strategy to win at least sis assembly seats in the by motivating/inducing/exploiting the displaced Kashmiri Hindus to exercise their right to vote in huge number where the separatists command more support. Omar Abdullah is extremely angry with the separatists, including Syed Ali Shah Geelani. His grouse against the separatists is that their poll boycott call will only help the BJP, the RSS and the VHP. It will not help Geelani and others of his ilk who want the Kashmiri Muslims to boycott the upcoming assembly elections and the boycott call would only help the BJP make inroads in the Kashmir Valley, he has been saying. He said so on Sunday as well. But more than that, Omar Abdullah is also unhappy with media, especially print media, because the PDP has, according to him, purchased media. He on Sunday said: “He could not contest opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in propaganda as they had purchased newspapers, and their candidate contesting against MLA Amira Kadal, Nasir Aslam Wani, has been camping in a newspaper office”. “The PDP has purchased newspapers and he no longer read them for news but for propaganda. These days, if I see my photo on the front pages, I am surprised…Nasir’s rival candidate from PDP is these days seen camping at a newspaper office,” he was also quoted saying. In other words, he said that media is a purchasable commodity. All this only serves to demonstrate the extent to which Omar Abdullah has become nervous and what has added to his woes is the PDP’s assertion that the contest in the upcoming assembly elections is it and the BJP and the Nc and the Congress are out of race and Amit Shah’s assertion that 2014 would see the BJP in the driver’s seat in Jammu & Kashmir. His statements are only further demoralizing the already rather demoralized NC men. Indeed, the fear of defeat has rendered Omar Abdullah clueless, incoherent and confused. Real leaders do not indulge in the kind of negative propaganda as Omar Abdullah is indulging. |
