J&K Agro conspires to keep Jammu out of its recruitment | Beyond CM's equity claims | | Abodh Sharma JAMMU, Aug 25: Belying tall claims of transparency and propriety in governance, Jammu and Kashmir Agro Industries Development Corporation is in the process of conducting the recruitment of 9 officials stealthily with the malafide intention of keeping candidates from Jammu and Ladakh divisions out. According to details available with the ET, the Corporation advertised nine posts in different cadres including two Chartered Accountants, in the pay scale of 9300-34800 GP 4200, one Company Secretary in the pay scale of 9300-34800 GP 4200, four Assistant Managers in the pay scale of 9300-34800 GP 2800 and one Account Assistant in the pay scale of 9300-34800 GP 2200, through an advertisement dated January 16, 2014, which was published only in a Valley based news paper so that the process could be confined to benefit the candidates from the Valley alone. Sources divulge that out of all the applications received for different posts, only one belonged to a female candidate from Jammu, but that too was rejected on unspecified ground during the scrutiny of forms. Finally the candidates shortlisted through a process that completely lacked transparency were informed dates of written tests individually. After the written test that was conducted on July 20, 2014, 25 candidates were shortlisted for the posts of Assistant Managers Law and Assistant Managers marketing, all belonging to the Valley, while the sources divulge that several of the advertised posts were for Jammu," informed a source. Interestingly, the Corporation through another advertisement in the same Valley based newspaper dated August 24, 2014 (Sunday) published the list of the 25 candidates shortlisted for the post of Assistant Managers and asked them to appear in the interview on August 26 (Tuesday) to culminate its misdeed in a hurry. Meanwhile, MD Jammu and Kashmir Agro Industries Development Corporation when contacted denied that there were any malafides in the recruitment process. "It is the first time that recruitments in the Corporation are being done through a written exam and an interview," said the MD adding that there were certain applications from Jammu, but they candidates did not turn up for the written exam. However, he could not explain the criteria behind setting and checking of question papers and constitution of the Board for conducting the interviews. |
