Poswal calls on Amit Shah, demands redressal of Gujjars', Bakerwals' issues | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 25: A delegation of Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha led by state president, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, today called on BJP president Amit Shah and demanded from him to give a suitable place to Gujjars of J&K by framing certain programmes and policies in its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. Poswal informed Shah that Gujjars and Bakkerwals form a major chunk of state's population but still they are being neglected by successive governments. "Gujjars Bakerwals constitute about 25% of the total population of the state, with most of them residing along border areas both in Jammu and in Kashmir region", Poswal told Amit Shah, while adding, "These communities continue to be backward and devoid of development due apathetic attitude of the successive governments both at the center and in the state". He said that these downtrodden communities have very high hopes from the BJP government as they have been let down by the parties which remained in power in all these years. He said that youth of these communities are the worst affected as far as unemployment is concerned. |
