JAMMU, Dec 31:Justice Sagir Ahmad's report on Centre-State relations has stirred a
hornet's nest for suggesting to examine National Conference's proposal of Greater Autonomy to the state. With BJP, Panthers Party, Panun Kashmir and individuals from Jammu and Ladakh regions vowing to oppose it tooth and nail terming it "anti-national", the issue may snowball into a major controversy in the New Year-2010, if not handled properly.
If the controversy takes a bigger form, this could an "unpleasant" gift of the outgoing year 2009 to the New Year-2010.

SRINAGAR : Number of guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) declined further as only one man and a woman arrived here while 17 from this side of the border crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) in the Karvan-e-Aman bus this afternoon.
Only two persons--a man and a woman--arrived here from POK after crossing the Aman Setu bridge on foot near the Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC, official sources told.
They said 15 residents of this side, who had crossed over to POK, also returned to their homes after meeting their relatives there. They included two women and as many children.

New Delhi, Dec 31 Government today asked telecom operators to provide a "fool-proof" plan for verification of customers in Jammu and Kashmir before a decision to revoke the pre-paid mobile services ban there could be contemplated.
Denying media reports that the ban had been revoked in the militancy-hit state, Home Minister P C Chidambaram made it clear that until he was "satisfied" with the plan of the telecom operators, the issue would not be revisited."We are holding discussions with the service providers.

Jammu, Dec 31- Principal Sessions Judge Jammu B L Bhat today adjourned the arguments on bail applications for January 2, 2010 and directed the Chief Prosecuting Officer to file objections in the fresh bail applications filed by Rakesh Kumar and Choudhary Nagar Singh and also the separate bail application of Choudhary Jagar Singh. In both the bail applications the applicants denied that they had bribed any police officer.

Jammu, Dec 31-The General House meeting of Bar Association Jammu held under the chairmanship of its President Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi unanimously resolved to suspend work in the courts against Justice Sagir’s report on Centre-state relations.
The meeting after discussing the report termed it a ‘big fraud’ on the rights and aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir, besides being anti-national.
General House observed that the said report seems to carry forward the agenda of Kashmir centric political parties and is likely to encourage the anti-national and feasible feelings, which will be against the interest of the country.

Hundreds of agitating daily wage employees of Power Development Department (PDD) were cane charged in this winter capital while they were marching towards Civil Secretariat here.
Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protesting Power development Department (PDD) daily wagers at below Gumat area here today when the protestors tried to take out a rally from Canal Road to Civil Secretariat.
Several protesting PDD daily wagers received minor injuries in the police action when the protesting daily wagers tried to march towards Civil Secretariat in Jammu here today, an eyewitness said.
