Jammu, Nov 13: Pulwama born Ghulam Hasnain Masoodi today took the oath of additional Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. He was administered by Chief Justice Berin Ghosh at a simple ceremony here at the High Court complex which was attended by Judges, judicial officers, lawyers and some top government officers.
Registrar General of J&K High Court MK Hanjura read out the warrants of elevation issued by the President of India for elevation of Ghulam Hasnain Masoodi and also read out the letter of Governor authorizing Chief Justice for administering the oath.

Jammu, Nov 13: Deprived of the basic amenities, education and healthcare, the Gujjar children are the most dispossessed lot in Jammu and Kashmir, said a Non-governmental organisation working on the Indian tribes.
The NGO, its survey, has come across casual neglect, exploitation and limited resources of parental income as major causes pushing the Gujjar children to labour in early age. Many die very young of malnutrition and lack of access to the medical facilities, claimed the NGO.

However, a bulk of the country's kids don't have much reason to celebrate, as they struggle everyday against vices like child labour, sex selection and malnutrition, and education is still a far-fetched dream for many, say civil society representatives.

Srinagar, Nov 13: People in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region continued to shiver due to severe cold as the minimum temperature hovered between minus 0.5 degree and minus 15 degrees Celsius.
Official sources said almost all ponds, small streams and nullahs were frozen in the areas where the temperature was minus 5 degrees.
They said Drass, the coldest place in the world after Siberia, recorded minus 15 degrees this morning.
All the water bodies were frozen in Drass sector too, disrupting normal life.

Jammu, Nov 13: Nearly 23 linemen and other staffers of the Power Development Department are said to be dying every year while performing their official duties but the government has been accused of being insensitive to their plight. Citing this and many other reasons, the association of daily wagers of the PDD has threatened to go on strike.
The All Jammu and Kashmir Daily Wager Union (PDD) today said 350 daily wagers have lost their lives while performing duties since 1994 but the state government has not yet come with the concrete solution to their 'long pending' demands.

Mumbai, Nov 13: Justice Bilal Nazki of the Bombay High Court has been promoted as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
Justice Nazki, who is due to retire on November 18, will assume the charge of Chief Justice's office in Cuttack on November 14.
Born on November 18, 1947 in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Nazki obtained a law degree in 1973 from the Aligarh Muslim University.
Having served as the advocate general of J&K, he was later appointed as a judge of the J&K High Court. He was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 1997 and then to the Bombay High Court in January 2008.
