SRINAGAR, Dec 19: The Srinagar Master Plan (SMP) is an important document, not because it lays down the guidelines for expansion of the fast expanding city but for the breaches that this plan has witnessed over the past three decades. It has been repeatedly prostituted by politicians, bureaucrats and the civilians.

JAMMU, Dec 19: The Services Selection Board constituted under Section 124 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir has been cut to size and shall follow a new procedure for selection to all posts from 2013.
According to the new procedure, the JKSSB is supposed to hold written test for all the posts and attach attested scanned documents with OMR sheet at the time of submission.

JAMMU, Dec 19: As the global population hits seven billion, experts are warning that skewed sex ratios could fuel the emergence of volatile "bachelor nations" driven by an aggressive competition for brides.
While there has been a marginal increase in the country's sex ratio from 933 in 2001 to 940 in 2011, significant variations still exist among the J&K State, with an adverse ratio.
As per the records, the sex ratio stands at 883 females for 1000 males in the state, as per 2011 census, showing a distinct decline from that in the year 2001 that gauged 892 females for 1000 males in the State.

SRINAGAR, Dec 19: Four thousand and eighty militants including 279 commanders have surrendered before the security forces during the past twenty-three years, says a report of the State Home Department. A local news agency that claims possession of the report said 2881 youth who surrendered their weapons have been rehabilitated till date. They get a monthly stipend of Rs 3000 every month and the Government intends to spend Rs 3 lakhs on their welfare, the report said. However, the amount has to be spent in three years.
