JAMMU, Dec 25: There are some Rathore-like police officers in J&K too. The Need of the hour is to reopen the "hushed up" cases against them and take them to the logical conclusion.
Though the Rathore issue has acquired the centrestage in the country, in J&K, the cases of alleged sexual harassment of several women, including some lady cops, by some police officers never took the centrestage till people became violent and held protests and demonstrations.
S.P.S Rathore, who retired as Haryana Super Cop, had molested 14-year-old budding tennis player Ruchika in 1990 and then created circumstances that drove her to commit suicide.
There are several Rathore-like police officers in the state police department against whom probes were either left half-way or dropped.A lady police constable was asked by her commandant, now retired, at Chhanni Himmat-based armed police complex to get intimate with him. JAMMU, Dec 25: Holding midnight revels at Lakhanpur in Kathua after India's triumph over Sri Lanka in the one day international match on Thursday, some youth burst a fire cracker which fell on government timber logs as a result of which the latter caught fire.
Police said after India defeated Sri Lanka late last night, several local youth started bursting fire crackers on their rooftops. A carcker fell on the timber logs piled up near the check post of sales tax department at Lakhanpur, the police added.

Bangalore, Dec 25: The swine flu vaccine will be brought out by March or April next year after completion of animal and human trials, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said.
"We have already completed the first phase of animal trials (on small animals) and begun the second phase on big animals. We will be completing both the animal and human trials by March and the vaccine will be launched by March end or April first week", Azad told reporters after inaugurating the renovated M S Ramaiah Medical Teaching Hospital here.

Srinagar, Dec 25: Once remaining abuzz with the ritualistic activities, the cremation grounds in the valley have fallen to disuse once the Kashmiri Pandits migrated to other parts of India enmasse. About 95% of the Pandit population left the valley in early 1990 when armed militancy erupted in the state. With their flight the cremation of the dead has abruptly stopped at about 90% of these cremation grounds which has left them in shambles as there is no one to look after most of them.
