SRINAGAR, Apr 29: Humbled by over 17 Lakh Kashmiri voters with their massive participation in the Assembly elections of November-December 2008, hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani today seemed to have staged a comeback when his maiden call for boycott to the current Lok Sabha elections brought the Valley to a halt. On the eve of the April 30th polling in the South Kashmir constituency of Anantnag-Pulwama, Geelani has asked the people of Kashmir to stay indoors and observe complete shutdown for 50 hours, beginning at 1800 hours on April 28th.
With the authorities making tight security arrangements and fine tuning contingency plans in view of varied apprehensions and threat perceptions related to holding of the elections smoothly, both, Geelani as well as Mirwaiz factions of the separatist Hurriyat Conference have called for a shutdown in Valley. Jammu, Apr 29: The first four months of the current year as compared to 2008, has witnessed an immense rise in the pilgrimage to the world famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine situated in Trikuta Hills.
Sources said so far in the first four months, over two lakh rise has been recorded in the total pilgrimage as compared to the yatra from January to April in the previous year.

Srinagar: Panic gripped this summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir after a mild tremor was witnessed on Wednesday morning.
Official sources said that valley experienced a mild tremor measuring 4.5 at the Richter scale on Wednesday morning. They said the tremor that was felt at 9:42 had an epicenter 36.04N and 71.27E located in Pakistan. However, no reports of any damage were received.

Poonch, April 29: Adding flavor to the cross-LoC trade, goods, mostly spices, worth over Rs 44 lakh were exchanged in the Poonch-Rawalakote weekly trade between Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), here on Tuesday.
About 20 vehicles, including light motor vehicles, loaded with spices and onions crossed to the other side Line of Control, while about ten trucks from the other side were were dispatched to this side of border throughout the day today, official sources said.
