5/22/2012 11:59:54 PM
Bashir Assad Srinagar, May 22: As the differences between the state government and the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) are gulping down with each passing day which seem to be a fair indication of the illegitimate supremacy power giant of India, it has finally turned down the proposal of the state government in regard to the return of three power projects to the state. so much so the corporation has completely backtracked from its commitment to provide employment opportunities to the locals in accordance to the agreements reached upon from time to time. Sources within NHPC told Early Times that the Corporation has turned down the proposal of the state government to return Salal, Uri and Dulhasti Hydroelectric Power Projects to the state on the depreciated cost. NHPC's reluctance has come to the fore well before the state government could formally send a proposal to central government/NHPC through Power Development Department which according to reliable sources is yet to prepare a formal note as was decided by the state cabinet. Sources said the Cabinet Sub Commit...

5/22/2012 11:57:37 PM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 22: In one of his recent visits to the state, union Minister of Health, Ghulam Nabi Azad, complained publicly that not a stone had moved since he quit as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in July 2008. This may not be true with reference of several sectors but Health and Medical Education has evidently become a casualty during the National Conference-led coalition government. On sustained persuasion of a journalist, residents of Rishipora and Chowdhary Bagh offered community grazing land (kahcharai) measuring 78 Kanals to Ghulam Nabi Azad's government for the construction of a hospital proposed to be raised in Private Public Partnership (PPP) mode in th...

Panthers' 'Reorganization' rhetoric: Old trumpet, monotonous tune
5/22/2012 11:56:04 PM
Abodh Sharma jammu, May 22: Panthers' rhetoric over reorganization of the state of Jammu and Kashmir is becoming too monotonous and boring. Besides blowing the trumpet of reorganization, party has done little on ground to exhibit that it is serious to transform its resolve into reality. The MLAs of the party and the party supremo Bhim Singh have repeatedly played the old tune, but the party neither has a definite road map, nor political means to realize its agenda. Interestingly, the demand of reorganization of the state has been pioneered by the RSS, which has advocated cultural, ethnic, linguistic and ideological differences to justify its demand, but even BJP, the political face of t...

RUSTAM JAMMU, May 22: The BJP, Bajrang Dal, VHP, Bahujan Samaj Party and Panthers Party, almost all the religious and cultural organizations in and outside the State and ardent devotees of Lord Shiva are seething with anger. The reason is that the Governor, N N Vohra-controlled Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has "unilaterally" reduced the duration of Amarnath yatra from 60 to 39 days, notwithstanding the fact that neither the NC-Congress coalition government nor even the Kashmiri extremists have demanded reduction in the yatra period. Significantly, the Gujjar Muslims have also joined the crusade against the Shrine Board by holding a press conference and asking the controversial Govern...
