The only meaningful dialogue between the government and Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) ever since eruption of agitation in Jammu, today ended in a deadlock even as both sides described the discussions as fruitful and productive. The ongoing agitation and shut down will continue till, at least, Tuesday when the Government’s panel and the Samiti members are expected to meet yet again for the fourth and conclusive round of dialogue.
After three rounds of dialogue between an official panel of four members headed by Dr Sudhir Singh Bloeria and a similar panel of four members of SAYSS a consensus on the contentious issues could not be evolved. An impressive Shobha Yatra organized by the Dharmarth Trust and Shri Sanatan Dharm Sabha had lakhs of people joining the procession. Elders taking part in the Shobha Yatra admitted that today’s procession had largest every participation in Jammu. The current bout of unrest in Jammu and Kashmir has cost the industry Rs.50 billion in the past two months, a leading industry chamber said here Saturday. 'The social and political unrest, completely disrupting industrial activities in the last two months, has jeopardised the state's economy with industrial losses mounting over Rs.5,000 crore (Rs.50 billion),' said the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham).

Coinciding with the eve of Krishna Janamashthami some signs of normalcy were seen in Jammu and its adjoining areas but situation continued to remain tense in the border township of Poonch where clashes between members of two communities left more than 20 people injured while a dozen shops are reported have gutted forcing the authorities to impose curfew.

Life in Kashmir Valley was paralysed today following a three-day shutdown called by separatists, with protests being staged in some areas.
The valley wore a deserted look as both public and private transport kept off the roads. Business establishments, markets, government offices, educational institutions, banks and other semi-government organisations remained closed in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley, officials said.
There was no report of untoward incident from any part of Kashmir, they said.

The fierce encounter between security forces and militants, in which a Colonel of a Rastriya Rifles battalion was killed on Friday, is still on near the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchal sector of northern Kashmir.
Latest reports said the security forces have killed 12 militants in the encounter that started almost 30 hours back.
The Army lost Colonel J J Joseph and two jawans in the encounter, while four other Army men were injured.
