Poonch, Aug 23: In a bizarre incident, of course not first of its kind, the Army today prevented ‘flight’ of a large family of 45 members while they were about to illegally cross over to Pakistan administered Kashmir through Line of Control.
Sources described disappointment over a prolonged land dispute as a reason for the family of Mir Hussain to cross over to the Pakistan administered Kashmir to begin a fresh life on other side of the Line of Control. This was, however, not the first case of families from Poonch district crossing over to PoK on ‘allurements’ on other side and ‘disillusionments’ back home.
Sources said that the Army held back and apprehended 45 civilians including nine children and 12 women while they were attempting to cross over to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) via Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of this border district. ''The civilians led by one Mir Hussain of village Dhargloon, Mendhar this morning tried to cross over to other side of the border but stopped and held by the Army troops near fencing,'' sources said.
