| J&K still uninformed, 27 states have ICs | | | | Agencies
New Delhi, Aug 6: The government today said all the 27 states, except Jammu and Kashmir, in the country have constituted their respective Information Commissions under the RTI Act.
"All the 27 states to which the Right to Information Act, 2005 applies, have constituted the Information Commissions. Union Territories are covered by the Central Information Commission," Minister of state for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Prithviraj Chavan told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
Government has initiated a centrally sponsored scheme on "Strengthening, Capacity Building and Awareness Generation for Effective Implementation of the RTI Act" by providing funds to State Information Commissions for IT work and propagation of right to information; imparting training to various stakeholders; and generating awareness through media etc, he said.

| Another intrusion bid foiled in Poonch | | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug. 6: The Indian Army foiled an attempt by five militants to cross the Line of Control (LoC) from the Jabbi post in the Mandi sector of Poonch district on Thursday.
The army noticed the movement of five infiltrators and alerted the post commander. After sometime, the militants attacked soldiers with a rocket launcher and grenades. The soldiers also fired on them.
One of the infiltrators was killed. The other four managed to flee back to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Srinagar, Aug 6 : A court in Shopian on Thursday rejected the bail application of Jammu and Kashmir police officers, who were arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of two women in Shopian.
The court rejected their plea under the Section 497 of CRPC (discretionary powers of the judge to grant bail or not).
Investigations in the case were still on, the sessions judge said. SRINAGAR : As many as 155 people, including 57 women and 23 children, crossed sides in the Karvaan-e-Aman bus operating between here and Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) today.
However, the number of guests from PoK remained higher against that of the residents of this side visiting other side of the border.
Official sources said that 51 residents of PoK, including 21 women and ten children arrived here to meet their relatives.
They arrived at Aman Setu after crossing the bridge on foot, the last Indian military post on this side.
