Uncertainty is prevailing among hundreds of aspirants as questions are being raised over a selection list of ancillary staff of the University of Jammu.
Earlier this year, the University of Jammu had advertised several positions for different nature of posts which also included the orderlies, security guards and drivers. Interviews were conducted immediately after the application deadline but the select list was never released for next six months.
Several applicants have alleged, which has also been substantiated by sources, that the “list” has indeed been “released” but in a doubtful and discreet manner. There was already an uncertainty among the applicants but the manner in which list has been finalised has further cast aspersions on the selection process.

Tension erupted in a remote and picturesque Latti village of Udhampur after a Police officer mercilessly beat up a member of the Village Defence Committee.
A VDC member who is resident of village Chapper Latti alleged that he was beaten by SHO Latti without any reason. VDC member alleged that he was beaten by SHO when he approached him to deposit his gun as he was going out of village for few days .
Meanwhile Injured VDC member identified as Narinder Paul son of Pikhu Ram was admitted to district hospital Udhampur residents of the area .Other VDC members today demanded inquiry into the incident.

Asif Ali Zardari today took over as Pakistan's President and swiftly pledged to come out with "some good news" on Kashmir before this month-end.

Life in Kashmir valley returned to normal today with opening of shops and business establishments which remained closed for three days following a strike call given by separatists coordination committee.
Government offices, educational institutions, banks, courts and markets opened in Srinagar and all other towns of the valley this morning, official sources said.
However, these establishments remained closed in Anantnag district and parts of downtown Srinagar in protest against the alleged highhandedness of security forces, they said.

Concerned over reports of increasing number of armed militants across Indo-Pak border to cross-over to the Indian side, Army's top commanders have called a meeting here today to review and chalk out a fresh strategy to foil their attempts.
"There are reports of mounting terrorists concentration across the International Border in launching pads awaiting to cross over to Jammu and Kashmir," Defence Spokesman, Lt Col S D Goswami said.
Owing to the reports, the top army commanders have converged here to review and chalk out fresh strategy with field commanders to undertake urgent measures to counter any infiltration bid by them, he said.
