Ahmed Ali Fayyaz SRINAGAR, Sep 23: Infiltration of sizeable groups of heavily armed cadres of Lashkar-e-Toiba from Pakistani-controlled Kashmir in the last few months—that has been, of lat, seriously noticed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as Union Home Minister P Chidambaram---has begun to show in a big way in Kashmir valley. Close on the heels of three major attacks on Police and CRPF in the Capital city, four soldiers---including a Major---and four militants have died in two fierce gunbattles between militants and security forces in Bandipore and Rafiabad areas in north Kashmir. Authoritative sources told Early Times that working on certain intelligence inputs available with Bandipore Police, troops of Rashtriya Rifles 13th Bn swooped on Banyari village on the banks of Wular Lake, near Ajas, in Bandipore area last night. Early Times Report Srinagar, Sep 23: Two women committed suicide in the Kashmir valley, where the trend of taking extreme steps continues despite the Muslim ulmas issuing a fatwa and social, religious and NGOs expressing concern over it. Official sources said here today that one Suriya Jabeen hanged herself in her Muqam Sahib Peer Sopore in Baramulla district. However, other family members immediately took her to hospital where she was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings, they said. Early Times Report Srinagar, September 23 - Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has constituted a high powered Committee to establish 18 Poly Technique Colleges in different districts of the State which have been approved by Government of India involving an expenditure of Rs 210 crore. JAIPUR: Army chief Gen Deepak Kapoor on Wednesday said Pakistan had violated ceasefire norms recently with an intention to push in additional terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir before the onset of winter. The Chief of Army Staff, however, said India's troops were quite alive to such tactics and giving befitting reply to contain intrusion to the valley. Gandhinagar, Sep 23 : Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal P.V.Naik on Wednesday downplayed the Chinese threat, saying there have not been air incursions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Addressing the media over the issue, Air Chief Marshal Naik said, "Our strategy is to play it cool. We are not downplaying anything. As far as the Air Force is concerned there has been no reason to downplay anything. There have not been any incursions reported at the LAC."
