JAMMU, Sept 11: Semifinals line-up has been drawn in both men and women sections in the ongoing annual Inter College Badminton Tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at J&K Polie Indoor Hall, here today.
Team reaching the last four stages included Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua, Government MAM College, GCET and Post Graduate (PG) Departments. Now, in the semifinals, to be played tomorrow, GDC Kathua shall take on MAM College while GCET shall lock horns against PG Departments.
The Detailed Results:
Quarterfinals: GDC Kathua beat Law School (JU) 3-1: Singles: Avishek lost to Chander Dev Manhas 12-21, 21-11, 21-17; Ankit bt Himanshu 21-08, 21-00. Doubles: Ankit and Dinesh bt Chander Dev and Aditya 21-12, 07-21, 21-07. Reverse Singles: Dinesh bt Anuragh 21-07, 21-11.
MAM College beat GDC Udhampur 3-0: Singles: Arjun bt Vinayak 19-21, 21-11, 21-18; Deepak bt Rajat 13-21, 21-16, 21-18. Doubles: Arjun and Deepak bt Ashwani and Rahul 21-18, 21-18. GCET got walkover MIET
PG Departments beat GDC Hiranagar 3-0: Singles: Taranpal Singh bt Sahil Mathur 21-11, 21-15; Amit Jasrotia bt Abhishk Sharma 12-21, 21-15, 21-13. Doubles: Taranpal and Amit bt Abhishek and Gourav 16-21, 21-18, 21-18.
GDC Gandhi Nagar faces GDC Paloura in semis
Meanwhile, semifinals position has also been cleared in the women section with the entry of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, GDC Paloura, GGM Science College and PG Departments in the last four stages.
Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, GCW Gandhi Nagar shall meet GDC Paloura while Science College girls shall lock horns against their seniors from PG Departments.
Today's quarterfinals officiated by the technical penal including Vikram Jamwal, Ravish Vaid, Amit Sharma, Kulvinder Singh, Pankaj, Charanjeet Singh and Suresh.
