| Congress awaiting revocation of nomination order by CM | | Kargil Hill Council 'put on hold' | | Looks at NC moves on dispatching Ministers as 'mischief' Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 11: Even as the Congress has put its foot down over Kargil hill Development Council issue, ruling National Conference continues to play 'hide and seek' , notwithstanding the assurances coming from various quarters and impressions it gives to its that it will allow the Congress Councillors to form the Government in the autonomous body. Having made four nominations by issuing a notification in favour of NC, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has yet to revoke and recall the order which has created a furore between the allies. The issue has ostensibly been put on hold and the formation of Council formally hangs on for now. Sources said the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on whose instructions this notification was issued few days back can revoke and recall this on the alibi that it has to done in an appropriate manner by his Government which is a simple way of settling this issue that has made politically a complex matter . However, he is not doing so nor has his office been given directions afresh to revoke the order through which four nominations were made, though politically it is giving this to understand that NC is willing to back track on the nominations which will pave way for Congress to lead the House. Sources within the Congress said that party leadership sees all the moves of dispatching Ministers and senior leaders to Kargil as playing further 'mischief' over the issue and delaying the setting up of the Council in the hilly district. "There is no need to send its party Ministers to sort out problem there in Kargil……the problem is with the nomination order which has to be revoked in the civil secretariat….", said a Congress leader. The National Conference is making it look so complex issue for their own ulterior motives….they want to prolong the matter for no valid reason and this delay will not serve any purpose as Congress will not budge over what it sees as insincerity of NC leadership, he said adding if the Chief Minister is sincere and clear on NC staying out, he must not delay and dither in revoking the nomination order. The nominations have to be made but not the way CM has done it, said sources in Congress. The normal practice seen in the past suggests first step as formation of the Council with election of Chairman which is followed by proper floating of a proposal along with the Deputy Commissioner to the Government in place to make nomination for four seats, sources explained. But here in this matter Chief Minister did it all by himself, ignoring the fact that CM alone doesn't make the Government. He has to do it in coordination with allies and in consultation with Ministers, sources added. |
