| Sarpanch, family booked for coercion, illegal confinement | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Sept 11: A sarpanch, his wife and son have been booked by Rajouri police for threatening his real brother and his family, keeping them in illegal confinement for whole night inside their house and damaging their property in village Dhanwankot under the jurisdiction of Chingus police station in Rajouri district on Tuesday. A case under sections 342/452/448/427 RPC and 30 Arms Act (violation of licensed weapon rules) was registered in Chingus police station against the accused. Source said that Mohd Azam sarpanch, Dhanwan Kot along with his wife Sakeena Begam and son Mohd Rafi went to the near by house of his real brother Manzoor Ahmed at about 9 pm along with his 12 bore gun to threaten him over a long pending property dispute. Manzoor Ahmed on seeing his brother approaching with gun and apprehending trouble locked himself with his family inside the house. Finding difficult to break the doors after repeated attempts sarpanch handed over the gun to his wife to keep vigil on his brother and went to bring big hammer to damage the walls and pillars so that his brother could come out. For entire night, Mohd Manzoor remained in illegal confinement of sarpnach and his family and when villagers came to know about the matter they left for the house of Manzoor. In his complaint with the police Manzoor has said " Had he or his family come out of the house they would have been killed by his real brother (sarpanch). "On the complaint of Manzoor police started investigation and sarpanch was arrested in the evening today while his wife and son were still at large.Police has sent team to locate them" said Irfan Wani , SHO, Chingus police station. Police have seized the licensed 12 bore gun of the sarpanch . |
