| Shortage of staff: Panchayat members lock three Govt schools in Kalakote | | | early times report Rajouri, Sept 11: To register their resentment over shortage of teachers/masters in Government Schools falling under Gandoh panchayat in Kalakot tehsil, agitated panchayat members today locked three government schools viz. a primary, middle and high school. Before locking the schools the deputations of locals, panchyat members, prominent citizens under the leadership of Shanker Dass, sarpanch have met the senior officers of education department time and again but till today nothing has been done to redress the issue. He said that there is only one post graduate teacher at Government High School at Gandoh against 230 students enrolled in the school. "He too has shown his helplessness to run the school smoothly, concerned sarpanch added. "Govt Primary School, Bini has only two permanent teachers to impart education to 60 students, he said adding, "but they have appointed a local youth to teach the students at their own and are paying him from their salaries." "Govt Middle School Panjnara too is lacking teaching faculty as there are only two teachers to handle school affairs, sarpanch complained and added that they will open the schools only after DDC visits and mitigate their problems or CEO, Rajouri transfers some teachers for these schools. Lal Hussain Chief Education Officer (CEO), Rajouri when contacted told they had a meeting today with the Deputy Commissioner and discussed all the possibilities to provide required teachers in every school. This will take some more time to stream line the system. Meanwhile Director Education Sorav Bhagat told over phone that matter has been brought to my notice as I am new appointee and will take some time to acquaint with the affairs of the department. "I will talk to CEO and few teachers will be dispatched top these schools on priority basis," he said mentioning remedial measures.
