No salary since June

JAMMU, Sept 11: Much hyped Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu has become a storehouse of grievances for employees working there, as the hospital administration has failed to disburse salary of around three hundred employees for the last three months.
Sources informed Early Times that more than 300 employees including permanent, contractual/need basis have been working in Super Specialty hospital but were without salaries since June.
Preferring anonymity, an employee of SSH said that in the month of June, they were given four month's salary and once again three months have elapsed and they were without salary and have been managing their family affairs by taking loan.
"Whenever we inquire about delay in release of salary with higher officials, they assure us that the matter has been taken-up with Government and pending dues will be cleared as early as possible", he said, and rued that despite repeated assurances, nothing has been done in favour of employees.
"The delay on part of Government to release the salary has created lot of problems for us", said another female employee, adding that she was unable to meet her household expenses and even the grocery store has refused to lend her items on credit.
Another employee said that he could not afford school fee of his children and the school administration has warned to expel his children, if dues were not paid immediately.
Castigating the State Government, the employees said that they were appointed on contractual basis at SSH three months back, but Government has failed to pay their pending dues.
"I belong to a very poor family in R S Pura, and I have to spend Rs 60 daily on transportation and food, it has become very difficult for me to meet my requirements in the absence of salary", in dismayed voice, he said.
A higher official pleading anonymity said that the State planning and development department had not approved 100 percent plan allocation to their department due to which salaries were not given to employees. "We get news that 100 percent plan allocation has been approved. If the news is authentic, then within days the salary of employees will be disbursed", he maintained.
