| Prof Chaman criticizes CM's statement | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: Commenting upon the statement of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that the total internal revenue is less than even 50 percent of the salaries of the State staff and a grim financial situation is prevailing, Former Union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that someone must owe the responsibility for this messy situation. Prof. Gupta said that during the past over six decades now the centre has provided massive funding for developmental and other activities in Jammu and Kashmir but it was strange that even after spending of lacs of crores the State has not been able to attain self sufficiency in any sphere of life, so much so getting dependent in the matters where it was not only self reliance and had the capacity to export the goods including the timber and many other product to earn for its kitty. Prof. Gupta assailed the policies of the ruling leaders of the State for growing imports even that of the energy despite there being big hydle power potential, which he observed could not be exploited because of the narrow and parochial approach of the ruling elite. Prof. Gupta said that there is a need for review of the total approach and getting rid of the sick mind of separatism and put to halt the abuse of central funds. |
