Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 13: A poetic and musical treat was offered to the audience by Dogri Sanstha, Jammu today at K.L. Sehgal Hall. The occasion was a 'Gazal Sandhya' in which musical compositions by veteran composer Sham Saajan, based on the poetry of leading Dogri Gazal writers Deepak Aarsi and Susheel Begana were presented by talented singers Sargam Pant, Neelam Langeh, Subhash Langeh and Sham Saajan himself. A large number of Dogri and music lovers formed the audience which included writers, artistes and prominent citizens. Anjali Sharma, Asstt. Director Doordarshan Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion. Dogri Sanstha honoured Anjali Sharma for her significant contribution towards development and propagation of Dogri language by starting announcements in Dogri and children programme in Dogri in Radio Jammu in short stint as Incharge Director. Highlight of the programme was that it was a rare combination of carefully chosen poetry, the beautiful compositions and the soulful rendering by the singers. Although all the gazals were of high literary merit-but audience especially liked 'Phi besuri nazar ne keete kamaal kinne' and 'Aas di godai ch palna theek ha, palda reha' written by Deepak Aarsi and sung by Sargam Pant, Neeiam Langeh and Subhash Langeh and 'Dus mein kiyan nabhane zindagi de haadse' penned down by Susheel Begana and presented by Sargam and Sham Saajan respectively. All compositions were based on classical ragas, appropriately chosen to suit the mood of the poetry, which made this programme a special event. Karan Malhotra on tabla and Sanjay Pashi on guitar gave excellent accompaniment to the signers. Earlier welcoming the audience, Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha disclosed that this was first programme in a series of programmes to be presented by Dogri Sanstha, in which, in every programme the poetry of a single poet will be showcased to the audience in the presence of the poet. In this programme, also, both the poets were present and were applauded repeatedly by the enthusiastic audience. Anjali Sharma in her brief address said that the most appropriate and effective method of popularizing poetry is through music. She complimented Dogri Sanstha for organizing the programme and Sham Saajan for putting his heart and soul in the musical compositions. She said it was a programme to remember for a long time. Veena Gupta, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha thanked the audience at the conclusion of the programme. |
