Omar appeases notorious stone pelters, ignores Jammu youth | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 13: Omar Abdullah led State Government is appeasing stone pelters to remain seated in power, in the bargain compromising on national security and adopting indifferent attitude towards Jammu region. The State Government had already released about 2000 stone pelters in Kashmir, charged in 2010 violent summer, in which about 110 people had died. Omar first decided to act tough against them but then suddenly changed colour and decided to side with them and even reward them with jobs in State police. The Government even framed rules to provide job to stone pelters. It had not only exposed Government on its handling of law and order issues but it also provided an incentive to stone pelters to carry on with their destructive agenda. A number of youth in Kashmir, see stone pelting as a card for Government job. The youth had realized that Omar Government will succumb to their tactics and would be forced to offer them jobs. It is because of this attitude of the Government that stone pelting incidents have gained momentum. Many educated youth even in Kashmir rue this policy of the Government and are also contemplating to indulge in stone pelting. The Government has thus by its own action legalized stone pelting forcing even educated youth to carry stones. It had also given impetus to separatists movement in Kashmir with its this act. But in Jammu region, the youth who pelted stone against the injustice of State Government are not only being denied job but are also being detained and questioned. After the violence in Kishtwar, many youth were forcibly detained and harassed leave alone offering them jobs. Even in Kishtwar town itself not even a single youth has been given job. |
