Srinagar, Sept 13 : At a time when administration is all set to replace central reserve police force (CRPF)camp with Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police(JKAP) forces, people of shopian are adamant over the demand of complete removal of forces camp from Gagren area and demand that no alternative option will be endorsed keeping in view the location of this place.
According to the sources in administration an important decision of replacing CRPF camp from Gagren area of shopian with JKAP taken in the Cabinet meeting seems to have hit the road block as people of the area demand that no alternative camp will be accepted as the location of camp is next to co-educational degree college, besides locals of the area are bound to move next to the camp location to reach to their orchards and homes as well and any untoward incident in the area in future can blow out of proportion.
One elderly person living next to the present CRPF camp said that they want complete removal of forces camp from the area and they would keep protesting until their demand is fulfilled by the administration. Meanwhile amid the strict restrictions in Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir, people in shopian were not allowed to offer Friday prayers in main town as the heavy contingent of forces deployed in the area didn't allow people to come out of their homes and offer Friday prayers. "We were not even allowed to offer Friday prayers by CRPF personals standing next to the Mosque of our Mohalla, besides lack of essential commodities in our homes is creating a lot of problems for us with every passing day' Said Muhammad Javaid of Shopian According to the details received curfew remained inforced in the three districts of south Kashmir since Wednesday following the killing of on driver, Rafiq Ahmad Rather, 28,allegedly by the hands of CRPF in Gagren area.
