Construction in Pahalgam continues despite High Court ban
Retired SSP, affluent business man taking advantage of valley unrest

Anantnag, Sept 13: While taking the advantage of worsened Kashmir situation, People having political and bureaucratic patronage have starting raising illegal construction in Pahalgam, despite state high court ban.
Construction works in this sensitive environment is being mainly carried out by the affluent business men and people enjoying political patronage while as Phalgam Development Authority is totally in slumber. Sources said that a retired SSP, identified as Mustaq Ahmad Kanu is constructing his hut at rafting point Pahalgam since the violence broke out in Shopian and PDA is watching helplessly.
They said an affluent business man from Srinagar city identified as Ashraf Burza is also violating the high court ban by constructing a hut in Movera area of Pahalgam were government has also banned the construction.Earlier exposed by the Early Times, PDA hasn't lodged any FIR against the brother of a influential government employee. He continues to construct hotel in Movera, because his brother who happens to be the PA of Urban Local bodies director, is having strong political and bureaucratic patronage besides support of ruling National Conference party.
It is worth mentioning that, as per SRO 258 issued vide govt. Notification No. TSM/INC/78/ 2013 dated 16-05-2013 PDA has expanded its ban cover to nine villages which include, Movera, Veersern, Yaneer, Serchain, Gujaran Batkkot, Batakoot, Ganishpora, HurduKichroo and Amard Wargd partly. Inside sources revealed that due to nexus between officers in Phalgam development authority with top politicians, businessmen construction of huts and hotels continue to Movera and other areas. Locals blame PDA for the continuing illegal construction. Meanwhile, a senior Officer in PDA revealed that the staff and officer inside the development authority are in mood to stop the illegal construction due to the hurdles that the National Conference is creating.
