| KPs for keeping 'flame' alive through generations | | Balidan Diwas to be observed across nation | | Et Report
Jammu, Sept 13 : Kashmiri Pandits across the country are observing Martyrs Day tomorrow , a day observed throughout on a somber note essentially to pay tributes to those who laid down their lives for being bold voices of the community in pre and post migration period in Kashmir Valley. Even as the unity in observance eludes among a host of KP organizations, this makes no difference as the purpose and aim in organizing different functions in different states , including Jammu itself to keep the flame of sacrifices alive through the generations , a point which is being contended unanimously by the community members on social networking sites ahead of the Martyrs Day.
Reacting sharply and responding swiftly to the remarks by few questioning relevance of the observance of the Day the way it is observed after 24 years, most of the voices have made it abundantly clear that it was for all the KP groups and organizations across the country and even abroad to keep it a prominent day in the calendar for years to come , given the importance and imperativeness of not only remembering the martyrs who were killed during the initial yeas of militancy and even after exodus , for the sole reason of being a KP and nationalist voices , but also to make it known to younger generations the facts and truth about tales of travesty and sequences of ordeal the community was made to suffer in facing wrath of terrorism and in what order the entire community was hounded out of the homes . The idea as mentioned by few on social networking sites is to keep the youth of the community updated on these facts , who were born after exodus as also a generation which was quite young at the time of exodus , not having comprehended the intricate details and design behind hounding out the aborigines of the Kashmir in 1989-90 period. In any case even as the mode of observance may be different at different places by different organizations , the message and focus is same on this day, which is observed as Balidan Diwas for over two decades now. While a number of functions have been organized for the day tomorrow at Jammu, national capital New Delhi would also see main organizations like Kashmir Samiti , AIKS and even lesser known youth groups wearing black badges and bands while they pay homage to martyrs of the community. Balidan Divas is also being observed in metropolitan cities like Bangalore and Mumbai , besides Pune and Chandigarh, some places in HP by KP organizations where a sizable number of KP families reside |
