Mustansir Srinagar, Sept 13; The biggest achievement of the Omar Abdullah led coalition government is the death and destruction witnessed in every nook and corner of the state which is going on unabated with nobody held accountable for the grave human rights violations . This was stated by opposition Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti while protesting against the fresh spate of violence and killing of civilians in Shopian. PDP Friday today took out a protest march against the killings of civilians in Shopian. The march started from the party head quarters at Residency road Srinagar to reach secretariat where it was stopped by police contingent near Regal chowk. Addressing the protestors in the regal Chowk , Mehbooba said, "Kashmir has become a killing field, where every day bullets are fired and innocent people get killed. But there being no accountability in the government, nobody is being held responsible and punished for these incidents and only commissions are being ordered with no results till date. This has been continuously happening during the last 5 years since NC congress government assumed the power." She said inspite of the fact that militancy has declined drastically, the civilian killings have gone up in comparison. She said, "Hundreds of civilians killed during the last five years, have been innocent youth, who had no relation with any kind of militant activity. But unfortunately both the state and central government have failed to take any action against the police and the security personnel responsible for these civilian killings. Right from the death of deaf and dumb outside Chief Minister's residence, followed by Alochibagh killing, shopian rape and murder case, Machill fake encounter, 120 killings in 2010, Boniyar, Markandal, Gool etc or the latest killing at Shopian, there seems to be no end and no punishment for the same." Mehbooba said, "This lack of accountability has sent a wrong signal to the forces that they can get away with anything. The only mode of communication between youth and the young chief minister seem to be through bullets, pellet guns, chili grenades, tear gas shells, PSA, FIRs, curfew and jail. This unabated and unaccounted dance of death has pushed the youth to the wall and further alienated them," she said. Senior PDP leaders Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Tariq Hameed, Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Peer Mohammad Hussain, Karra, Legislators Abdul Rehman Veeri, Sofi Abdul Gaffar, Peerzada Mansoor Ahmad, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Javed Mustafa Mir, Syed Bashir Ahmad, Nizamudin Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Mohammad Rafi Mir, Abdul Haq Khan, Dr Mohammad Shafi Wani, Mohammad Ashraf Mir Abdul Razaq Zawoora, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, senior leader Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Javed Hussain Baig and Nazir Ahmad Laway also participated in the protest march. |
