Kathua, Sept 13: Residents of Kathua today accused the National Highway Authority for failing to address the dilapidated condition of the highway stretch from Kalibari to Lakhanpur. The highway has developed deep and wide holes which can prove fatal, they said. The wide holes are often filled with rain water. "The condition of the road is risky as thousands of people move regularly to Srinagar and Jammu and back including tourists," they added. Industrialist Vinay Mahajan, Sandip Mittal, Hardev Singh Mussafer, Suresh Kumar, Raj Sagar, Ajeet Bawa, Anil Singh and Pankaj Dogra said that due to worse condition of the highway nobody can drive vehicle smoothly. "Kathua to Jammu ride used to be a one and-a-half hour journey. But now it takes more than two or three hour because of dilapidated condition of the highway," they said. "NHAI authorities should ensure that the road is repaired so that people don't have to suffer further."
